Honors Program

Honors Concerts
The Community Division takes great pride in the quality of its pre-college performers. One of the ways we recognize these preformers is through departmental Honors Auditions and Concerts held each spring. Although qualifications vary depending upon department, in general, the school seeks to honor those students who perform at levels that are consistent with the best community schools in the country.

Private lesson teachers will be able to help you with the criteria involved in the audition. Teachers need to nominate their students to be involved in these Honors Concerts, so please speak with your teacher about your readiness for such an event.

Students chosen to participate in the Honors Program will perform in their respective departmental honors recital showcasing the most talented students in our school. These students are also eligible for school scholarships according to the descriptions below by department.

Dance Department Honors Program

The Dance Department offers an Honors Scholarship, in the form of tuition credit toward the Intensive Program at our school, for a talented dancer with need in the amount of $2,000 each year. The award is granted each spring and presented at the annual Spring Dance Festival. Recipients may use that scholarship the following school calendar and apply it toward tuition costs of the Intensive Dance Program at The Hartt School Community Division.

New this year, we are developing a Certificate program for Intensive dance students. The certificate program is designed to take the serious professionally-bound young dancer into activities and deeper study providing much-needed skills and knowledge for the professional world of dance. For more information, contact our dance department to inquire about specific educational components, activities, requirements and tuition.
