Children's BalletDoes your child have an interest in ballet or dance? For parents searching for ways to interest, engage, stimulate and focus their child's natural energy and expressiveness, the answer might be, “Classical Ballet.” Ballet is a unique synthesis of artistry and technique, of self-expression and discipline. It's challenging and great fun and it provides the basis for all of dance. In our ballet program, children learn so much of great value:
Our world is full of tempting options, from sports to reading to television. Introducing a child to classical ballet is a dazzling gateway to the performing arts - the world of artistic communication, of proud accomplishments in the studio and on stage. About Our Children's Ballet Programs for 2009-2010 Classes are given on a yearlong basis and current listings can be found below. Tuition information for our classes is available here. The Community Division Dance Department holds classes at the new Handel Performing Arts Center (located at the corner of Albany Avenue & Westbourne Parkway in Hartford) and at our satellite location at Simsmore Square in Simsbury. Interested parents can contact the Dance Department by email or by calling 860-768-6000 for more information or to register for classes. Interest lists are now being formed for ballet classes for homeschooled students in grades K - 2 and grades 3 - 8. Please contact the Simsbury Office at 860-651-3570 for more information. It is open to any children ages 3 - 5 regardless of experience level.
Children's Ballet I for Ages 5 - 8 This program is for children who have completed the Discovery level program and are 5 years old or children new to the program who are between the ages of 5yr - 8yr who have not participated in children's ballet previously. In order to qualify for Children's Ballet I, 5 year olds must be eligible for kindergarten.
Children's Ballet II for Ages 5 - 8 This program is for children between the ages of 5yr - 8yr who have previously completed the Children's Ballet I program.
Children's Ballet III for Ages 5 - 8 This program is for children between the ages of 5yr - 8yrs who have completed the Children's Ballet II program. Upon completion of Children's Ballet III, children will have the opportunity to enter the Intensive Ballet Program in the Foundation I level or move on to the general program Youth Ballet I.
** Please note that upon completion of Children's Ballet III, students may continue in the General Program or transfer to the Foundation class to prepare for the Intensive Program. It is important that students are dressed appropriately for class. Children ages 3 - 8 years old should follow the dress code listed below.
