Concert Ensemble

Concert Ensemble is an expansion of the former Concert Orchestra, the original junior orchestra at Hartt, to incorporate a full wind ensemble and a string orchestra. Designed primarily as an intermediate ensemble for students in grades 7 and up, the ensemble rehearses and performs as a string orchestra and a separate wind band for all wind, brass and percussion students. On occasion, students in lower grades may be accepted depending upon the individual circumstances of each student as well as the needs of the ensemble. Some wind, brass and percussion students also join the string students to form a full orchestra for this age level. The ensemble learns a wide variety of age appropriate literature for full orchestra, wind ensemble and string orchestra.

Auditions and Rehearsals

Auditions are held each September and again in January if space is available. To schedule an audition online, click here. For more information about auditions and the group in general, email the Hartt Community Division office at harttcomm@hartford.edu . Our ensemble programs are open to all students. Those who study privately through the Community Division are eligible for reduced tuition rates.

The ensemble runs from September to June. Rehearsals are on held on Saturdays from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. in Bliss Music Room and Room 342 at The Hartt School. Concerts and other events are posted on the Concert Ensemble Schedule.
