Suzuki String Orchestras

The Hartt Community Division offers a progressive series of five Suzuki String Orchestras that perform a wide variety of classical and contemporary literature. Students can be placed in an ensemble appropriate to their level beginning when the student reaches the middle of Suzuki Book II. Students are promoted to the next ensemble as they progress through the Suzuki literature. Placement is done by teacher recommendation for the younger orchestras and through auditions for the Vivace and Opus 89 orchestras.

Suzuki Orchestras are offered at no additional cost for those who study privately through our school. Additional ensemble opportunities are available for non-Suzuki students. If you are interested in joining an ensemble, please speak with your teacher or contact the office at harttcomm@hartford.edu . Current Students -

Rehearsal & Participation Information

Appoggiatura (First Level)

Rehearses Wednesdays from 5:45 - 6:30 pm at Universalist Unitarian Church. Rehearsals and other events can be found on the performance calendar . Students are placed in this ensemble with their teacher's recommendation. Click here for performance uniform requirements.

Da Capo Orchestra (Second Level)

Rehearses Tuesdays from 5:45-6:45 p.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church. Rehearsals and other events can be found on the performance calendar . Students are placed into this ensemble with their teacher's recommendation. Click here for performance uniform requirements.

Intermezzo Orchestra (Third Level)

Rehearses Tuesdays from 4:45-5:45 p.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church. Rehearsals and other events can be found on the performance calendar . Students are placed into this ensemble with their teacher's recommendation. Click here for performance uniform requirements.

Vivace Orchestra (Fourth Level)

Rehearses Saturdays from 11:15 a.m. –12:15 p.m. at The Hartt School. Rehearsals and other events can be found on the performance calendar . Auditions are held in September. Click here to request an audition time.
